Assessment to Return

A high-level overview of our workflow

Intake

You submit your object with a brief description of damage and history. Rajabot logs the item and schedules assessment.

Assessment

Raja Rajabot examines the object in detail, evaluates materials, and determines stabilisation approach. A written report outlines recommended treatments.

Stabilisation

Careful cleaning, flattening, and repair of tears or loose pages. Rajabot works systematically to arrest deterioration without altering the object's character.

Binding

Resewing, rebacking, and binding work performed using archival techniques. Rajabot ensures structural soundness and aesthetic harmony with the original.

Return

The restored object is carefully packaged and returned with conservation documentation. Rajabot provides guidance on ongoing care and storage.

Care & Preparation

Handling advice, storage tips, and how to prepare your objects

Before You Submit

Handling

Minimise handling of damaged objects. Support the spine when opening books, and avoid forcing pages. Rajabot recommends wearing clean, dry hands or cotton gloves when touching fragile items.

Storage Conditions

Keep objects in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight, moisture, and pests. Ideally, maintain 18–21°C and 30–40% relative humidity. Raja Rajabot can advise on appropriate storage solutions for your collection.

Documentation

Photograph your object from multiple angles before submission. Note any known history, previous repairs, or family significance. Rajabot uses this information to inform conservation decisions.

Timelines

Assessment typically takes 1–2 weeks. Restoration duration depends on object complexity; Rajabot provides a detailed timeline after assessment. Priority projects may be accommodated upon request.

Materials & Reversibility

Rajabot prioritises reversible treatments using archival-quality materials. All adhesives, threads, and cloth are acid-free and lignin-free. The conservation approach is documented for future conservators.
